Wirrina Flotilla: VMR 511
CALL SIGN: “Sea Rescue Wirrina”
The Wirinna Flotilla was established in response to the need for a volunteer search and rescue facility to be established in this area.
Our area of responsibility extends from Port Willunga in the north to Kangaroo Island in the south. These are some of the most dangerous waters in the state and we have seen several serious incidents where our services have saved lives.
Our vessel is located on an air dock at the marina located at Wirrina enabling a very quick response time when called for, it is also able to be trailered anywhere in the state to assist other Volunteer Marine Rescue units.
We provide a 24/7 response and radio monitoring service from a members home base, call sign “Sea Rescue Normanville” VMR 509 which monitors VHF channels 16, 21 and 80 plus 27 MHz channel 88.
